Every morning, as we enjoy our morning coffee, we seldom stop to wonder where it comes from. Every cup of coffee has a story behind it.
What’s the story behind your cup of coffee?
At Trades of Hope, we get the privilege of hearing directly from the people behind our products. We get to know names and faces… hear stories of hope… and see the good that each product is doing in 18 countries around the world.
Our Artisan partners in Guatemala recently shared how Trades of Hope 100% premium coffee is doing good to the last drop!
Something very special happened to me last week… I should say a great reminder… and I wanted to share it with you.
A while ago, I got a team from a University in the U.S.
They were here to be part of our medical program called COFFEEMED.
During the experience, the students noticed my iPhone cover was an Iron Man cover.
I guess they didn’t see it as very professional for a “business coffee man”.
In fact, one of the students asked me why I had that cover and I was a businessman.
I told her, “let the week finish and perhaps we will have an answer”.
Time went by and once again we had a busy week, but as experiences were taking place, they noticed I was part of all the children’s activities. In fact, my presence in the coffee plantations was noticeable… to make sure everything was happening as planned.
Pablo explains how the coffee Artisans use time honored coffee cultivating and harvesting methods that are safe for the Artisans and the environment.
If I wanted to make you believe I was the owner of ALL those coffee plantations I could…
but it is all about my commitment with each one of those plantations and their people.
We have reached over 6,000 patients and we are going for more.
It has been over 6 years since we have started COFFEEMED.
The way I see it: MORE SALES, MORE PEOPLE TO HELP!
We have long term patients such as Monica that has been needing cleft and nose reconstructive surgery, so we make sure we can help them one way or another. Sometimes they don’t even have money for medical tests or for the bus. So, we procure whatever care they need before and after surgery.
We had our debrief meeting and that same student told me she understood why I had an Iron Man iPhone cover.
She understood and witnessed how committed my operation is with the communities we worked with and their children.
In fact, all the coffee plantations know we are more committed to the wellbeing of our workers and collaborators than anything else.
This is not an experience for us or a “program”. This is a way of living because Father God has shown us everything we have is HIS and we better get busy. – Pablo
3 years ago, I got my new Captain America cover and last week I found it in a box.
Perhaps we all need a superhero cover to make us believe we can help others in an everyday operation with our talents and what Father God has given us!
We tend to define who we are because of our profession, but it goes beyond that.
We are simply tools for change, and as long you have a willing heart, HE will take care of the rest.
