Over half of the families in Guatemala live in poverty. Many children must beg on the streets every day, instead of attending school. Young girls often drop out of school early in order to manage household chores and care for their siblings.
Without education and job opportunities, young women like Laura often become trapped in endless cycles of poverty, struggling daily to provide food, clothing, shelter, and other basic needs for their families.
Laura’s work as an Artisan, not only provides for her family’s needs, but has also expanded into opportunities for others to overcome Guatemala’s disheartening legacy of poverty, too.

Laura invests in a more hopeful future for the next generation by providing job opportunities to young people in her community, like her nephew who sews with her.
Inspired and created by the families in Laura’s Artisan community, each Trades of Hope Endless Wristlet clutch tells the story of a family in Guatemala who is using the Artisan traditions of their ancestors to create a new legacy of hope for future generations.
