Providing Uniforms to Children in Haiti

“What difference can I make? I’m just one person!”

Overwhelmed by endless stories of natural disasters, crime, poverty, and injustice invading our lives through newspapers, social media, and the evening news, it’s tempting to disengage. It’s tempting to feel powerless to make a difference. It’s tempting to look away. After all, I’m just one person. What difference can one person make?

Feeling powerless leads to feeling purposeless. Feeling purposeless leads to feeling hopeless. It’s tempting.

But what if you and I could make a difference?

Meet Olivia

Olivia, a single mother in Haiti, rides in a tap tap four hours every workday to pursue her dreams. The journey is long but worth it, much like her journey to become a Trades of Hope artisan.

Needing to provide food, shelter, clothing, and education for her children, Olivia began working as a jewelry artisan eight years ago while living in a tent.

Olivia’s children are now 11, 8, and 7, and she dreams that one day all three will be able to finish school. In Haiti, an education will provide her children with more opportunities to pursue their own dreams, so Olivia works faithfully to provide her children with everything they need to earn this education.

Three years ago, she learned to craft pottery and clay beads. As she molds and shapes each piece of clay, Olivia is also molding and shaping a better future for herself and her children.

Trades of Hope Makes a Difference

Inspired by their own personal journeys and experiences serving international charities, Trades of Hope founders realized that charity was not a sustainable solution to the overwhelming poverty that plagued so many women around the world. Something needed to change. So they decided to become the change they wanted to see in the world. Four women, sharing a passion to help women help themselves, created a business model driven by ordinary women like you and me with an extraordinary desire to make a difference. These women are Compassionate EntrepreneursCompassionate Entrepreneurs offer their friends and families opportunities to purchase handcrafted products made by international artisans like Olivia. Artisans are paid 100% of their asking price up front – enough to provide their families with food, shelter, healthcare, and education – enough to make a difference.

You Can Make a Difference

One Trades of Hope Compassionate Entrepreneur empowers seven women out of poverty. Each time one Compassionate Entrepreneur inspires someone else to become a Compassionate Entrepreneur, she empowers seven more women out of poverty! One plus one equals fourteen! Her potential impact is endless!

As we look forward to a new year, Trades of Hope is offering you an opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of impoverished women and their families in Haiti. To attend school in Haiti, children just like Olivia’s are required to wear uniforms. Where funds and opportunities for education are scarce, even one uniform can determine whether or not a child receives an education. When you become a Compassionate Entrepreneur between January 1 – March 31 by purchasing the Traveler or Adventurer kit, you also provide a school uniform to a child in Haiti and make a difference in the life of a parent like Olivia.

What are you waiting for?

Pursue your purpose. Become the change you want to see in the world.

Want to Make a Difference?

Provide a school uniform to a child in Haiti by becoming a Compassionate Entrepreneur today!
